A Little Bit About Me
My name is Aunika Thiessen. I am from Stayton Oregon. Some of my hobbies are painting, drawing, hiking, swimming and most things outdoors. I have been on swim team most of my life and it has been extremely rewarding to get the opportunity to give back to the community as a coach. I love watching my swimmers flourish and improve under my guidance.
Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major
I chose Oregon Tech as it has the best medical imaging program. I chose medical imaging because I want to work in healthcare, I want to help people. I think that the fast passed nature and ability to explore other modalities is something I also really enjoy.
My Influential Professors
As a transfer student I haven't had the opportunity to meet many professors at Oregon Tech. However, Professor McCollam who taught my MIT 103 class is incredibly knowledgeable and caring. Her class has helped to solidify my plans in medical imaging. I can tell that she cares deeply about her students. She also puts so much effort into creating engaging and informative assignments.
My Plans After Graduation
After I graduate, I will be an X-Ray tech. I then hope to quickly pivot to either MRI or Mammography. After I've done that for a while I want to be department head or some sort of admin position in radiology.
