A Little Bit About Me

I am from a rural town in northern Nevada, where I was very active in our high school's leadership, and competed on 3 varsity sports. I then went to Southwestern Oregon Community College where I competed on the women's soccer team, wrestling and track and field team. During the time I was there I received a full ride and then was a RA to pay for my room and board. I have made it a goal to go to college debt free no matter how hard I have to work. After I graduate from Oregon Tech, I plan to get my master's in administration while I am teaching. Once I have that degree, I want to be an athletic director at a high school, and then plan to either run for school board, city council, state legislator, or county superintendent. I want to make big change in the community I belong to.

Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major

I chose Oregon Tech for the location; I love a small town that has lots of opportunities for outdoor recreation. The track coach Mike Anderson first reached out to me which led me to look more into Oregon Tech. Once I decided to transfer here, I met with advisors and found out that the Communication degree was very versatile and would teach me many skills and open lots of doors for me.

My Influential Professors

One of my favorite professors is Dr. Kevin Brown, he has been very helpful to me, in many situations. He has been a wonderful professor opening new avenues of thinking for his students. He has also been very supporting in my positions of leadership, I feel like he cares about each student as people and truly care for each of their individual futures.

My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech

While being an ASOIT officer I have gained many leadership skills and many meaningful opportunities. One of the most impactful has been my time at Salem lobbying at the capital. I enjoy working with legislators and growing my knowledge of how our government works and what I need to do to get into positions like that to impact the world.

My Plans After Graduation

After graduation I plan to be a high school teacher and coach. Ideally, I will be teaching agricultural science or history. Along with coaching women's soccer, wrestling, and track and field. I loved my time as a high school student which led me to recognize how impactful good coaches and teachers have been in my life. Students spend the most amount of time outside of their parents' home under the watchful eye of the schools and I want to help foster an empowering atmosphere for students and athletes.
