A Little Bit About Me

My name is Brooklyn Bartram. I have lived in Douglas County my whole life and have been enrolled within the Sutherlin school district for twelve years now. Some of my hobbies include drawing, painting, working, and volunteering for my local community. I have worked at Sizzler in Roseburg for almost two years now. I have a pretty busy schedule working 30-40 hours a week while going to school full time and keeping up with my at home responsibilities. It is extremely important to me to give back to my community. This is why I volunteer for various community programs like Sutherlin Music Off Central, Sutherlin Throwdown, and Saving Grace. By participating in these programs it encouraged me to do something of my own. This past year I held a shoe drive where I collected 102 shoe donations.

Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major

I chose to attend Oregon tech because of their small class sizes, amazing professors and hands-on learning techniques. At Sutherlin high school there are a total of 79 kids in my graduating class so it was extremely important to me to find a college that I would be able to excel at and I believe I will achieve that at Oregon Tech. I chose my intended major of medical imaging so I can help others.

My Influential Professors

Throughout high school I have had the honor of having Mr. Hanson as a math teacher. Mr. Hanson has always provided me with the materials and supplies I need to succeed and has put in hours of his own valuable time to see me as well as many others achieve the best outcome in our trigonometry class. I am truly grateful for all of the encouraging words and meaningful recognitions he has given me and I will continue to appreciate him even after I have graduated from Sutherlin High School.

My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech

My greatest learning experience has to be the progress I have made within my public speaking abilities. Throughout high school I have struggled to present various projects, answer questions, and even read out loud to the class. In turn this had a negative impact on my grade and forced me to work extra hard to make up for the bad grades I obtained on these assignments. Now I can proudly say I have worked extremely hard and can present to the class with confidence as well as answer and ask important questions to my teachers.

My Plans After Graduation

In the future I am planning to become an obstetrician. I have thought throughout many years about how stressful but also rewarding pregnancy can be not only for the mothers but the family as well. My vision for making a positive impact in my field would be to comfort the mother, baby and family throughout this wonderful transition of a new addition to the family. I plan to work at a clinic or hospital in Oregon in order to give back to my community and help those with their reproductive health concerns.
