Previous Degree: Kinesiology from Oregon State University
Why did you choose Oregon Tech?
A smaller class size allows for more focus to be placed on the students and skills they are developing. This is important for the hands-on skills that are a big part of physical therapy. Also for me personally it allowed me to be back in the community I was raised in.
What do you like most about your program?
Ability to go to any of the faculty members for help, advice, or develop professional skills. Most of the faculty encouraged connections with the students during their time, and beyond the students time at OIT.
What are you passionate about changing within this particular field and why?
Personally I’m passionate about making sure that patients receive the best and most relevant care available. Making sure that the patient also has an understanding of their own health and how we are a facilitator for them to become a healthier individual.
What have been some of your favorite classes and why?
Anatomy as it’s a very course intensive class, but it’s the foundation of our entire practice and has a large amount of hands on time. The second class would our program's I.C.E. classes which give us early experience to working with patients and the aspects of being a Physical Therapist
Is there anything about Oregon Tech that you wish everyone knew about?
OIT is a small college with a wide community, there are plenty of events to go to and people to meet.
Is there anything more that you would like to share with future students about campus/what you wish you knew before beginning your program?
Your classmates will be built in friends. The time you spend with them will quickly build deep bonds that will be unbroken for a longtime.
