A Little Bit About Me
Besides my love for engineering, I also love many things outside of school and education. I am big on the outdoors. Whenever I have free time, I love to participate in activities such as fishing, hiking, foraging, mountain climbing, biking, hunting, etc. Living in an area where I can do all these activities is important to me. I also love music, whether it's listening to it or playing it; I spend my free time playing guitar, and I got myself involved with the Music Club at OIT. We like to share music interests and jam out. Another thing about myself is that I like problem-solving and designing solutions to mechanical problems. Starting in high school, I quickly began to learn SolidWorks (3D modeling) and part fabrication, which led to me picking mechanical engineering as my degree.
Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major
I chose Oregon Tech because I heard great things about developing connections with companies across the United States. Ensuring that my job search goes smoothly and that I can work after college is important to me, and knowing Oregon Tech holds that to a high standard stood out to me. Furthermore, I chose Mechanical Engineering as my major because of my love for modern technology and problem-solving using tech.
My Influential Professors
The Professors here are Oregon Tech have proven to be great so far. They show that they care about your understanding of the material and often want to get to know you personally. The most influential professors I have had so far are Jim Fischer, Alissa Whiteley, and Dylan Kloster. The reason is that they show extreme passion, understanding, and work ethic regarding the fields that they teach. Not only that, but they often express care for their students by constantly offering to help them outside of class. The passion for their expertise and kindness towards others is something that resonates with me.
My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech
Besides learning the valuable information regarding my degree that Oregon Tech has given me thus far, I would say that the greatest learning experience here at Oregon Tech has been communicating with others and developing social skills. I have interacted with several groups, people, and associations on campus during my time here, and in doing so, my connections with people on campus have expanded, and I have developed essential teamwork, communication, and professional characteristics that will be useful in my future career.
My Plans After Graduation
My plans after I graduate with my degree are to pursue further certification in my field by passing the Professional Engineer and Fundamentals of Engineering exams and starting the path to becoming a certified professional engineer. Regarding my job, I would like to work in a field of engineering that specializes in aeronautics, aerospace, or defense technology. I plan to take on internships while I'm here at Oregon Tech and use my experience to mold me into an effective engineer for the company I work for in the future.
