A Little Bit About Me
I am a dedicated and determined runner. I have been in Cross Country and Track all four years and hold multiple school records. My favorite part about running is the fact I can do it with my friends, by myself, outdoors, indoors, and anytime during the day in any weather. I am a highly competitive person so naturally racing is extremely exhilarating for me, and I love it. Apart from running, in my free time I like to work on my online sports card shop selling football cards and memorabilia. I am a huge Packers fan and have been building my collection for the past 10 years now. I enjoy going to my church in Ashland, as well as occasionally helping out with my family in the children's ministry. I love watching movies, playing all sorts of games, and hanging out with friends.
Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major
From a young age, I’ve been interested in the land and outdoors. Whether metal detecting or building traps at my grandma’s in Montana, being outside brings me joy. I’ve always wanted a career outdoors, not at a desk. My brother, a Civil Engineering grad from Oregon Tech, inspired my path. Surveying connects me with land, history, and agriculture—making Civil Engineering with a Geomatics minor the perfect fit.
My Influential Professors
Throughout my entire high school career, my mom has been the most influential and inspiring teacher in my life. As a homeschooled student, the only teacher I have had has been my mom, but I believe we have grown so much closer to each other through the process, and she has taught me so many life skills that will be carried on in my college life.
My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech
My greatest learning experience during high school was when our homeschooled community and I did debates. We prepared for over six weeks for the debates. Learning the topic, familiarizing ourselves with the terms, and researching laws and guidelines. During the fast-paced debate, I learned to think on the fly, act fast, quickly take concise notes, and prepare to cross examine and be cross examined. Looking back now, from the time of my first debate to my last debate, my class and I have improved so much it is incredible.
My Plans After Graduation
My hope and dream is to be able to work alongside my older brother at the engineering firm he works at in Medford. I would love to be able to become dual-licensed as PE (professional engineer) and PS (professional surveyor). Having both of these licenses would allow me to have a broader scope of knowledge and open up many more possibilities in my career.
