A Little Bit About Me
I am a student in the radiologic science program. While doing prerequisites for the medical imaging program, I took an intro to medical imaging classes where I learned about radiation therapy. I applied specifically for radiologic science with the hope of going into a radiation therapy program after I graduate. In addition to school, I try to stay involved as much as I can. I have been a TA for Imaging Techniques and am currently a TA for Contrast Media. A leadership role I hold is the secretary of the Radiologic Science Club. This has responsibilities such as mock exams for sophomores, planning events- such as the annual junior banquet, and organizing fundraisers. I am also an OSRT liaison for Oregon Tech and have made so many wonderful connections through this role. Outside of x-ray, I sing in a community choir which is a nice way to clear my head, and to just have something for pure enjoy
Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major
Having a bachelors degree was important to me. I wanted to study radiologic science because I wanted to help others through health care and Oregon Tech's program is exemplary due to the professors. They work hard to make sure we have all the knowledge and tools we need once we are in the field. Pair that with it being a bachelor's program and I was sold.
My Influential Professors
Rich Carson has been one of the biggest influential professors. He really lets students work to understand concepts which arguably teaches us more. Then if we get really stuck he’ll step in. He believes in us a lot and that goes a long way. Don McDonnell is another influential professor. I TA'd for Don so I got to work with him a little more than others. It’s so fun to watch him lecture because he is so passionate about what he teaches. More than that, he got me involved in OSRT which encourages passion for the field of radiologic science.
My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech
There was a concept fall term while learning about positioning a mandible and I was really struggling.
My Plans After Graduation
After I graduate, I plan on working as a radiologic technologist in a hospital setting. I’m also looking to further my education and to obtain my radiation therapy license to help with cancer treatments.
