A Little Bit About Me
My name is Eryk Mayes, and I am a junior in the echocardiography program here at OIT. I am currently the Vice President of the Echo Club and work as a patient safety assistant at Sky Lakes Medical Center. I am originally from Klamath Falls and graduated from Mazama High School in 2021. I have always found it easy to talk to people and see myself as very extroverted. I am so excited to use my interpersonal and critical thinking skills in the field!
Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major
I chose Oregon Tech because of its prestigious medical imaging programs, specifically, Echo. I love how dedicated all of the medical imaging staff is to their students. Having access to labs and the ability to scan before going into the field is such an amazing benefit that prepares medical imaging students.
My Influential Professors
Tara Guthrie has been such an amazing professor and advisor. She is always willing to go above and beyond to make sure my classmates and I have everything we need to be successful. Without a doubt, the Echo program wouldn't be the same without her.
My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech
My greatest learning experience at Oregon Tech was a whole new level of academic maturity. Echo was something that I was highly motivated to pursue, and being able to learn and apply my knowledge knowing that I would be scanning real patients really pushed me to use all the available resources to succeed in my classes.
My Plans After Graduation
After graduating, I am excited to start my career as an echocardiography tech and expand my knowledge and ability in the field. Outside of work, I look forward to exploring new hobbies!
