A Little Bit About Me
I have always been a very ambitious person, I don't think there has been a time in my life when I thought I couldn't do something. With that, I have always been passionate about helping people. Coaching, volunteering, and managing a clothing store are a couple of ways I have been able to show this in my life. I love to be busy so all these opportunities were ways that I was able to fill my time while always making an impactful difference in my community. I also love creativity which is why my job, which was working at a local clothing boutique, was so perfect. I got to help people choose exactly what outfits they liked while also getting to style my trendy outfits. Another thing about me is a love to make meaningful connections with people which is why I am so excited for Oregon Tech!
Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major
I chose my major because I have always been passionate about helping people. While volunteering at Salem Hospital I realized I wanted to do DMS and Oregon Tech was the obvious pick.
My Influential Professors
The most influential teacher in my years at high school was most definitely my senior-year writing teacher. I only had her for one year but she was the kind of teacher that made each student want to learn. She got me back into reading and taught me the importance of reading and how each book can help you not only in school but also outside of school. She was also the kind of teacher that would help you with anything you needed, for example, I was struggling with college stuff as neither of my parents went to college. She sat down with me and walked me through it so I knew I was doing it correctly. She absolutely helped prepare me for Oregon Tech!
My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech
I think my greatest learning experiences didn't come from inside school but from all the stuff I accomplished outside of school. Each activity I participated in taught me something different and in turn, made me a better student and person. Volunteering at the hospital taught me compassion and empathy. Coaching volleyball to little girls taught me patience and how to be a good teacher. Managing and working in customer service taught me how to make customers and employees satisfied. All these things I can bring to Oregon Tech.
My Plans After Graduation
After I graduate I hope to start working at a hospital and using my degree to help people. I would like to stay in Oregon for a couple of years while I get used to working as an ultrasound tech. Once I get more experience I would like to travel to different states to see what the rest of the country's health care facilities are like. The idea of getting to travel and also help people has always been appealing to me and I would most definitely like to try!
