Extracurricular Activities
Over the years, I have committed myself to a wide range of extracurricular, community service, and paid work experiences that have helped shape who I am and prepare me for a career in echocardiography. Through my active involvement in FFA—including leadership conferences, Vegetable Crop Judging, Ag. Mechanics, and Job Interview competitions—I have developed strong public speaking, teamwork, and technical skills. My role as Junior Fairboard President and Junior Ambassador for Klamath Basin Agriculturalists has strengthened my leadership abilities and deepened my connection to community service. I have dedicated hundreds of hours to volunteer events like fundraiser dinners, stacking wood for the elderly, coaching Little League Softball, and supporting the Tulelake Volunteer Fire Department. These experiences have taught me the value of service, responsibility, and compassion—traits that directly translate into the care and empathy needed in the medical field. My paid work on local farms and as a nanny further enhanced my time management, dependability, and work ethic. Most recently, shadowing medical professionals at Sky Lakes Medical Facilities and Smith Brothers Dental Clinic confirmed my passion for healthcare. Collectively, these experiences have not only prepared me for the demands of a career in echocardiography but have also fueled my drive to support others, pursue excellence, and make a lasting impact in my community.
A Little Bit About Me
I grew up in a small, rural farming community where I developed a strong work ethic, a deep appreciation for agriculture, and a passion for helping others. Throughout high school, I was active in FFA, 4-H, sports, and community service, all while working on local farms and pursuing leadership roles. These experiences, along with my little sister's medical journey shaped my desire to enter the medical field, specifically Echocardiography, so I can give back to communities like mine. I chose Oregon Tech because of its hands-on learning and strong reputation in medical imaging. I am committed to making the most of this opportunity and am incredibly grateful for your support in helping me reach my goals and create success for myself.
Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major
I chose Oregon Tech for its strong reputation in hands-on, career-focused education and its excellent Medical Imaging program. I have always wanted a career where I can make a difference in people’s lives, and Echocardiography allows me to do just that. Oregon Tech’s emphasis on real-world experience and small class sizes made it the perfect fit for my goals.
My Influential Professors
One of my most influential high school teachers was my FFA advisor, who encouraged me to step into leadership roles and pushed me to grow both personally and professionally. Their dedication to student success and hands-on teaching style inspired my passion for learning and service. At Oregon Tech, I look forward to studying with professors in the Medical Imaging program, especially those with real-world experience in Echocardiography. I am excited to learn from their expertise and apply that knowledge to a career helping others.
My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech
As a Junior Ambassador for Klamath Basin Agriculturalists, I represent and advocate for local farmers, promote sustainable agriculture, and raise awareness about water issues. I have developed leadership and public speaking skills through outreach and community events. This role has strengthened my passion for supporting rural communities and shaped my goals in both agriculture and healthcare.
My Plans After Graduation
After graduating with my degree in Medical Imaging, I plan to work as an Echocardiographer in a rural hospital or clinic, where I can help improve healthcare access in underserved communities like the one I grew up in. Eventually, I hope to combine my passion for healthcare and agriculture by starting a business that supports both fields, whether through mobile imaging services or rural health outreach programs.
