A Little Bit About Me
For some information about myself, I am a junior in the respiratory care program. I will start summer clinical rotations at the end of June and will then be on externship starting in the fall. I started at Oregon Tech in 2021 and will also have a minor in health informatics when I graduate. I am originally from Yamhill, Oregon and am the oldest of three siblings. I enjoy activities such as hiking, swimming, volleyball, and being outdoors. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family, reading my bible, and listening to music. Reading my bible helps me get through the hard parts of school and to just be grateful for life as well. My favorite genera of music is country because I can listen to it in the car or even when studying. I also love Disneyland and almost every Disney Movie made.
Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major
I chose Oregon Tech because of their amazing imaging program and just knew I could see myself furthering my education at Oregon Tech. As far as my major, there is so much opportunity for advancement in respiratory care and you can work in many different departments. Above all I wanted to make a difference in the world one patient at a time and respiratory allows me to do that and I am forever grateful for that.
My Influential Professors
My influential professors from Oregon Tech include Jolene Burgess and Jeff Pardy. Jolene is one of our online instructors and even though we do not get to see her in person, she always has a positive attitude and makes our long classes enjoyable. She is very knowledgeable and does a great job at not only teaching us but making sure we are filling our cups outside of school and taking care of ourselves mentally. Jeff is also one of our online professors and knows so much when it comes to respiratory care. Jeff pushes us to not only be good students but well rounded respiratory therapists and gives us the educational tools to do so.
My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech
My greatest learning experience at Oregon Tech happened when I entered the respiratory care program. As a whole, I have learned so much in the last two years and will continue to be a life long learner moving forward. I have gotten to work with some of the most up to date equipment, learned from some of the best respiratory therapists, and have been given many opportunities to not only advance my education, but to serve the community as well. This program has shaped me academically into the student I am today.
My Plans After Graduation
After I graduate with my degree my plans for the future are to sit for my board exams to be a registered respiratory therapist (RRT). Then I want to work my way up to having my neonatal and pediatric specialty (NPS). My overall goal for my career is to work in all areas of the hospital but be specialized in neonates and pediatrics. One day I hope to buy a house, a new car, travel, and start a family. I plan to work hard and have a good & happy life.
