A Little Bit About Me
I'm the oldest sibling by 10 years, which has taught me responsibility, patience, and compassion from a young age. I grew up playing sports like swimming and wrestling. I also spent time around hospitals watching my mom work as a CNA. Seeing the impact she had on her patients sparked my passion for helping people through healthcare. Now, I'm pursuing a degree in Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging with the goal of opening a pediatric imaging clinic. I love to crochet and read in my free time. I also like to find ways to grow and improve myself.
Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major
I chose Oregon Tech to pursue a degree in nuclear medicine so I can open a pediatric clinic offering all imaging modalities, such as MRI, CT, ultrasound, and more. Inspired by my cousin, who travels hours for care due to childhood arthritis, I want to make a difference by providing accessible, trustworthy care and building strong bonds with my young patients.
My Influential Professors
Two of my most influential professors at Oregon Tech are Rick Hoylman and Vanessa Bennett. They are incredibly dedicated and always willing to help, encouraging us to attend office hours and ask questions. Their coaching style of teaching pushes us to grow while making sure we're supported. They genuinely care about our success and focus on preparing us to be confident and ready for externship and real-world clinical experiences.
My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech
My greatest learning experience at Oregon Tech was adapting to the rigorous Nuclear Medicine program. I completed all prerequisites in one year and was accepted into the competitive program. I struggled initially, especially in Anatomy and Physiology and Trigonometry, but I changed my study habits, sought help from peers, professors, and the math lab, and learned to problem-solve. This taught me persistence, communication, and adaptability—skills that will help me succeed in my program and future career.
My Plans After Graduation
After graduating, I plan to work as a travel nuclear medicine technologist for two years to gain diverse experience and learn from various departments. My ultimate goal is to open a pediatric clinic offering all imaging services, including nuclear medicine, MRI, CT, and ultrasound. Inspired by my cousin who travels hours for care, I want to provide accessible, high-quality imaging and build trust with young patients to ensure they feel safe and informed.
