A Little Bit About Me

I am from Joseph, a small town in Wallowa County in northeastern Oregon. I grew up in a family that prioritizes working and recreating in the natural landscape. I enjoy hunting, camping, skiing, and hiking. I started my own lawn care business as a young kid and transitioned to working on farms. I then worked as an intern for Wallowa Resources doing surveys and other natural resource projects. This solidified my desire to study natural resources. I have developed a strong work ethic, love for nature, and passion for helping others. I have been a three sport athlete throughout high school. I participated in basketball, track, and cross country. I’m now an enrolled student at Oregon Tech, majoring in Environmental Sciences and running cross-country and track.

Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major

I chose Oregon Tech because it offers hands-on learning and a direct connection to outdoor environments. I’m majoring in Environmental Sciences with a focus on Outdoor Recreation and Natural Resources because I want to protect the places I love and help others experience and care for the outdoors in meaningful ways. Additionally, I have the opportunity to run track and cross country at OIT.

My Influential Professors

One of my most influential teachers from Joseph Charter was my Agriculture Sciences Teacher. Chelcee Mansfield was more than my teacher, she was my “AG Mom”, helping me through every competition that I did. She helped me with officer interviews, taught me how to tie a tie, and assisted me with writing multiple speeches. She was always ready to help me polish them up the night before they were due. As a mom of 2 little girls, she gave everything her all in the classroom and beyond. She is the epitome of a servant leader, and I greatly admire her! Chelcee was my most influential teacher at Joseph Charter High School.

My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech

One of my greatest learning experiences came from balancing academics, athletics, and leadership roles. As a three-sport athlete, I learned how to manage my time, stay focused under pressure, and work toward long-term goals. These lessons built at Joseph Charter School are habits that are helping me thrive and prepare for challenges ahead in my career and life.

My Plans After Graduation

After graduation, I plan to work in natural resources or outdoor recreation management, ideally with a state or federal agency. I want to help others connect with nature while protecting the land and ecosystems that make the Pacific Northwest so unique. I hope to lead efforts that improve access and sustainability in outdoor spaces.
