A Little Bit About Me
I am currently a freshman at Oregon Tech in Pre-Medical Imaging. I am in the midst of applying for my specific program, and my top choice is X-ray. I grew up on my family ranch in rural Eastern Oregon. I am so thankful that I was granted to live this lifestyle because it taught me so many priceless life skills, such as grit and determination. I love my little community so much because of the agricultural mindset and background it has. I also have several hobbies. I love to read, be outside, and I enjoy being active! I also enjoy being involved in my church and participating in events that it organizes.
Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major
I chose Oregon Tech because of my intended major. I am in medical imaging, and Oregon Tech has one of the best programs in the western states, so it was an easy choice for me. I am pre-medical imaging and in the midst of applying for a modality. My top choice is X-ray because I like the different avenues that it allows, such as CT, mammogram, and trauma.
My Influential Professors
Rosalind McClure has been my favorite professor. Her anatomy and physiology class has been so tough, but I love learning about the human body. Professor McClure is so helpful, and you know that she really cares about you and wants to help you succeed. One of my other influential professors has been Professor Eean Grimshaw. He was my public speaking and intercultural communication professor. He is another professor who you are certain cares about you and wants you to succeed.
My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech
My greatest learning experience at Oregon Tech has been taking my Anatomy and Physiology classes. This is a class that is consecutive for all three terms of your freshman year. This class is very challenging, but I have loved every minute of it! It has taught me important study skills and how to prioritize school but also have a social life. I have enjoyed studying it with friends and seeing the same people all year! My professor has made this such an enjoyable experience, and I have loved being able to learn so much material.
My Plans After Graduation
My plan after I graduate is to work in a big hospital at first to gain experience. This probably would include something in trauma because I think I will enjoy and excel at it. Then, after a couple of years of gaining experience, ideally, I would move to more of an outpatient position. Maybe a women's clinic or just in a regular medical imaging clinic. Then, when I have children, move back to my rural community where I grew up, so my kids are afforded the same lifestyle I was blessed to grow up in.
