A Little Bit About Me
As a student balancing caregiving for an ill parent with full-time studies, your help means so much. Life hasn’t always been easy—caring for an ill parent while balancing early mornings, long days, and late-night studying has been challenging. I’ve learned resilience, compassion, and the importance of service. I find peace in cooking, exploring the outdoors, and leading youth camps. Traveling to El Salvador to install water filters opened my eyes to global needs and deepened my commitment to service. These experiences have shaped my passion for physical therapy, where I hope to help others heal and thrive.
Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major
I chose my major, Bio-Health Sciences, with the intention of becoming a Physical Therapist in a rural community. I have battled a genetic disorder, but thanks to the incredible healthcare professionals, this condition hardly affects me today and has instilled a love for learning about the human body. I have been enjoying Oregon Tech hands-on experiences, small class sizes, and relationships I have made at OIT.
My Influential Professors
My most influential professor this past year has been Dr. Gandhi. Professor Gandhi taught me valuable study skills that allowed me to excel in his microbiology course. He inspired me to dig deeper into the material and always encouraged students to ask questions. I greatly appreciate Dr. Gandhi's talent in taking complex subjects and turning them into a digestible lecture without watering down the topic. Not only did I learn valuable skills from his lectures but also in lab. I enjoyed not only learning but also applying my knowledge by making agar plates and microscope slides.
My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech
My greatest learning experience at Oregon Tech has been participating in the honors program. It taught me to think critically, synthesize information from various sources, and engage deeply with complex ideas. This shift in how I learn from passive reading to active analysis has improved my confidence and helped me grow both intellectually and personally, preparing me to become a thoughtful problem-solver in my future career.
My Plans After Graduation
My goal is to become a physical therapist so I can help others regain strength, mobility, and confidence in their daily lives. Inspired by my experiences serving others, both locally and abroad, I’m drawn to a career that combines compassion, problem-solving, and one-on-one connection. I hope to work in underserved communities, providing personalized care that supports healing and empowers people to live fuller, healthier lives.
