A Little Bit About Me

I am 21 years old and am the youngest in my family. I am a first-generation college student in my family. I am about ten months away from graduating from this dental hygiene program, and I cannot believe it! It has been hard to focus on my studies these past couple of years due to their rigorous nature, but I have made it my priority. I am a faithful member of The Light of the World Church, and I truly love being there. Serving God is my greatest joy!

Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major

I chose Oregon Tech because they have a bachelor's program for dental hygiene. I had heard it was very difficult, but that the instructors here really care about their students and want them to succeed. I chose dental hygiene because my experiences in the dental office have always been lovely and something I look forward to. Many people don't have those experiences, but I want to provide that for my patients.

My Influential Professors

My most influential professors are Paula Hendrix and Charisse Botsch. They really care about my learning and go above and beyond to make sure I understand and feel confident about the material I have been taught.

My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech

I have learned that growth is a work in progress! Dental hygiene has its highs and its lows, but just because I hit a low, it does not mean all my growth is thrown out the door. I consistently have great learning experiences, most of which take place in the clinical setting. I have different patients at every clinic appointment, and each one brings something unique to the table. I have had to learn to accommodate to them and individualize their experience according to their needs.

My Plans After Graduation

Once I graduate with my degree, I desire to focus on providing care to underserved communities. I want to advocate for dental community health and educate different populations in a preventive manner.
