A Little Bit About Me

HI! My name is Olivia Breen (though you already know that), and I am much more than just a name on a page. My life so far has consisted of many turns and bumps, but I believe it has all worked out in the end for me. While I'm excited to attend college, there's a lot I have to be excited about outside of that. I love to travel, make D.I.Y. crafts, and collect all my favorite trinkets. I enjoy being present in the moment and exploring new places or concepts that I will soon come to love. I would describe myself as a person who is down to Earth, loves to have fun, and likes to get things done! I love people and would consider myself easy to talk to. I'm always eager to meet new faces, something I cannot wait for in Klamath Falls!

Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major

I feel that Oregon Tech is the perfect amount of space between my home and a new chapter. I feel that space is necessary to grow into this adult life I will be experiencing. Medical Imaging has always been something that interests me, and while I know it won't be sunshine and rainbows, it holds real world experiences, helping other people who need it. I want to be the person who makes patients feel understood.

My Influential Professors

I learned a lot from my Junior English teacher, Ms. Coulson. Ms. Coulson had a 'get it done' attitude, her class moved as fast as her thoughts did. She went for new concepts and brought students (including myself!) out of their comfort zone. Every teacher can try to do this, but Ms. Coulson's ways of teaching the young mind had a great effect on me. I learned a lot from her, not just about literature, but about how the world works. Instead of learning solely about writing and novels, her material consisted of real-world problems like racism or corporate greed. Her teaching opened my eyes. I remember Ms. Coulson as a go-getter with a warm heart.

My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech

I'd have to say, having teachers who truly are there to guide and listen to you makes all the difference. My Sophomore Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics teacher, Mr. Ilsley, made learning tailored to each student. He took the time out of his mornings, free periods, and after school to ensure I understood the material. Without his endless support and study halls before his tests, I'd be lost in math. While it has never been my strongest subject, Mr. Ilsley changed the way I look at math.

My Plans After Graduation

After graduation, my hope is to secure a job in ultrasonic technology with a clinic. While hospitals or big doctors' offices are exciting, I feel that the smaller clinic environment is much more intimate. While it is still a professional establishment, it should also be a place where you're comfortable going to. Hospitals can be intimidating, and I know this from experience!
