Extracurricular Activities

Volunteering at the Pregnancy Hope Center to serve the community. I also love painting when I have time and doing outdoor activities like kayaking, swimming, hiking, and camping.

A Little Bit About Me

I am a 38 year old single mother of two children. I work part time at the hospital in the infusion clinic and absolutely love what I do. I have been working towards my career goal of becoming a nurse for quite some time and now at the point where I see the light at the end of the tunnel. I have applied to three programs locally and should be hearing back shortly. I am proud of what I have accomplished so far and proud of another one of my greatest achievements and that has been raising my children. I am a proud mom to say that I will be graduating this June with my associates degree alongside my oldest child graduating from high school. It hasn’t been easy but am so blessed to have the life I have created along with the immense support from my family and from people like you. Thank you.

Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major

OIT is one of the best schools in the US. I also have three cousins that are OIT alumni, one of which now has his doctorate. I have heard wonderful things about this school and am honored to be a student here. I chose my major in Nursing because I have been passionate about helping others since I was a little girl. I have worked in the medical field mostly as a CNA for the last 18 years and love what I do. I am looking forward to making an impact on a bigger level once I am a Registered Nurse. I just want to thank you so much for contributing to my future and to the future of other students. This gift is so appreciated and will never be forgotten.

My Influential Professors

Alisha Huntoon is a professor I look forward to working with some more as well as all of the nursing program staff in the future.

My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech

I have learned that universities are much different than community college. I have enjoyed learning about the new processes and meeting new staff.

My Plans After Graduation

I plan on working at the hospital as a nurse because this is where most of my career so far has been, in a hospital setting. I have always had a desire to helps others when they need it most and not only help them get well, but help them feel seen, heard, and valued in their care. I am not sure which department at this time that I will end up working in; however, I do know that when the right place comes to me, I will know that’s it’s where I belong.
