A Little Bit About Me
I have grown up being outside. I love playing soccer and I will continue to try out for the OIT men’s soccer team. I love to do things that excite me and put me on my toes. I love to test myself by doing things I do not know how to do. It might take me longer than someone else but being able to problem solve and create a solution is all the better. I love hanging out with friends and going out and doing something, like fishing. I love being able to fix my own problems and also my family’s when they ask for my help. I’ve built a deck, I’ve redone the foundation of my grandmother’s house, and I have fixed my vehicles and my parents' vehicles numerous times. If it is hands-on work, you will always see me there.
Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major
I chose Oregon Tech because I know people who have gone through the civil engineering program, and they have nothing but good things to say about it. I love the area that it is located, as I love to be outdoors. I chose to be a civil engineer because I love to help people by building something for them. I have done many “weekend projects” to help my family or friends with things they need.
My Influential Professors
I have not had any classes yet at OIT, but I have met and talked extensively with Roger Lindgren. I am excited to be in some of his classes. From talking with him and touring the civil engineering space with him, it is obvious that he wants to be there. I have gotten this impression in the past from teachers, but they were not as stringent as his is.
My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech
As a transfer student to OIT, I have already learned how to handle my life with my studies. I am extremely hard working, and I can do anything I set my mind to. I have surprised my family and myself with things I have accomplished at my age.
My Plans After Graduation
I plan to move back home with my degree and hopefully some internship experience under my belt. I know back home is a growing city so I will be able to make an impact, hopefully immediately.
