A Little Bit About Me

I am from the small coastal town of Warrenton, Oregon. I live with my parents, two younger brothers, one of which also wants to be civil engineer, and my dog. When at home, I love spending time at the beach. While in Klamath Falls, I enjoy going to church and exploring what Southern Oregon has to offer. I also enjoy running, hiking, spending time with friends and family, and of course watching TV. In high school I participated in track and cross country, drama, and played flute in the band. I still enjoy playing instruments at the end of a long or stressful week to decompress.

Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major

I chose Oregon Tech because of the small class sizes and hands on learning environment. I was also very impressed with the civil engineering labs. I chose civil engineering because I have always been fascinated with infrastructure and construction projects and wanted to use my talent in math to find a career I love. I also chose civil engineering because I want to make a positive impact on people.

My Influential Professors

All my professors in the civil engineering program have been influential. They are all very passionate about their subjects, and it shows through their teaching. I never hesitate to go to their office hour to ask questions about class and even talk about life. I even once asked my professor tips for driving in the snow. I know that I will be prepared for life after graduating because of my professors. They are not only great teachers, but they are involved in clubs and advocate for their students outside the classroom. They have made my experience at Oregon Tech enjoyable and definitely worth it.

My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech

The greatest learning experience I have had at Oregon Tech is participating in the Steel Bridge Team. I have not only learned how to work in a team, but have also gained valuable leadership experience. As captain, I had to make decisions while also taking others thoughts into consideration. We got to travel to Virginia Tech where I got to interact with other students from across the country. It also helped me with my time management by forcing me to balance school, steel bridge, and taking time for myself to regroup.

My Plans After Graduation

My plan is to work in the transportation field. I want to help design and construct transportation infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and intersections. I plan on becoming a licensed engineer by first passing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and then passing the Professional Engineers exam. I also want to work in the pacific northwest so I can give back to the community I grew up in.
