Extracurricular Activities
Hello, my name is Tatyana :) a few things I enjoy outside of my daily responsibilities include reading, biking, camping, going to the gym, soaking up nature and wildlife, just some of the traditional PNW hobbies.
A Little Bit About Me
Let’s look at a glimpse of my life. I’m currently working at Legacy Meridian Park Hospital as an imaging support specialist that transports inpatients and outpatients to and from imaging exams. It’s been such a privilege being able to support patients who are at different stages in their lives, whether that be through joyful, fearful, or peaceful times. There’s been so many things learned and memories made working here. Aside from work, I serve at my local church Athey Creek as a bookstore volunteer, which I’ve enjoyed for 3 years now. A fun fact about me is that I’m currently training for my first ever backpacking trip, yay! A challenging yet thrilling experience that I’m not sure I’m ready to take on just yet (3 months away!). I love trying new things, and getting outside my comfort zone.
Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major
I chose OIT because of all the wonderful things I’ve heard about it. Hearing about people’s friendships that have been created, memories shared, nature excursions made and last but not least the outstanding professors and education offered. I’m passionate about ultrasound, but also the people I will be caring for once I’m a tech. I’m excited to share my passion with the world, and hope to make a difference.
My Influential Professors
I was blessed with my anatomy teacher whilst I was taking my prerequisite courses in my hometown; Melissa McNeal at MHCC. She demonstrated a strong passion and care for not only her students, but in teaching anatomy as well. It was evident in the way she spoke about each and every lesson, making it memorable, exciting, and entertaining. This wasn’t necessarily because the topic was, but because she demonstrated such a care and love that spread to her students. Each and every question was answered with thought, care and understanding. No question was a dumb question, which made us comfortable to ask all the more.
My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech
One of the greatest learning experiences I’ve learned whilst preparing for my move to OIT includes what it means to branch off from my comfort zone, including learning and experiencing new things. Uprooting and replanting in a new city is a nerve-racking yet thrilling experience. Understanding that it’s okay to have doubts, uncertainty, fears, yet a burning passion to excel in what you’ve come to OIT for. For the career path of course, but also understanding that it’s about rooting in long lasting friendships as well.
My Plans After Graduation
After graduating from my DMS program, my desire is to work in a larger hospital in general ultrasound. Performing abdominal exams, vascular, pediatrics, OB, and anything else that’s offered. Once I’ve gained experience in general ultrasound, I hope to find a small nonprofit clinic/hospital to assist those in need of medical assistance and support in their lives. I want to be able to share my passion with others by helping those in need, whether that be pregnant mothers, or offering medical care to the homeless.
