A Little Bit About Me

My name is Vlad Yoltukhivskyi, and I was born and raised in Ukraine. I have liked technology and programming from a young age. I've faced a lot of challenges, including living through war and moving to a new country. I love coding and robotics. I have several things that interest me. The first and most important is coding. I started visiting different coding classes in school, and outside of school. I became interested in coding after learning HTML and CSS. I did some research before deciding that C++ wasn’t the best option because it was more geared towards Olympic programming than app development. I then learned JavaScript web development, which was tough but helped me become more adept at problem-solving. The best language for me right now is C#, which I’m learning. I'm excited about studying at Oregon Tech.

Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major

I chose Oregon Tech for its strong focus on the real-world application of skills. My major in software engineering reflects my deep interest in coding and technologies. I am thinking that Oregon Tech could help me grow these skills and help apply them to real-world challenges.

My Influential Professors

One of the most influential teachers in high school was my AP Calculus teacher. She not only made hard and difficult material understandable but also encouraged everyone to study more. Her high expectations and belief in my abilities pushed me to work harder.

My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech

My greatest learning experience in high school came before the war in Ukraine. After the war started, we spent most of our time studying in the bunker. After moving to the U.S, it challenged me to adapt to a new culture and language. These experiences built my strength and showed me the value of education.

My Plans After Graduation

After graduating, I plan to become a software engineer and work in a company. In the future, I want to become a Senior software engineer and work for a big company to create a project that improves people's lives. Eventually, I hope I can mentor other people that are interested in coding, to help them in their coding life.
