Behavioral Sciences Department

The Behavioral Sciences Department offers B.S. degrees in Applied Psychology and M.S. degrees in Applied Behavior Analysis and Marriage and Family Therapy, and a diverse collection behavioral science courses which support Oregon Tech’s general education mission. We are committed to our role in enabling students to develop intellectual curiosity, critical thinking skills, global knowledge, and ethical and cultural awareness.

The mission of the Behavioral Science (BSC) Department is focused on training future professionals with the skills required for a rapidly change world. Our faculty on the Klamath Falls, Portland-Metro, and online campuses have diverse expertise ranging from behavioral health and behavior analysis to research methods and social psychology.  We provide students with a comprehensive education in applied psychology that will instill in them a lifelong love of learning that will allow them to be successful in their professional, civic, and private lives once they leave Oregon Tech. We offer several innovative undergraduate and graduate degrees and minor programs. 

BSC also offers psychology courses that meet the social sciences general education requirements for all students. In addition, these classes meet the lower-division requirements for college transfer students in many pre-professional programs. Our programs work closely with community partners to provide applied learning experiences for our students.

Department Goals and Objectives

1. To provide coursework in the behavioral sciences to prepare students for employment in a rapidly changing global market.
2. To provide course offerings in psychology, that prepares students to enter the workplace or graduate programs successfully.
3. To prepare Applied Behavior Analysis students for certification and licensure and subsequent practice
4. To prepare Applied Behavior Analysis students for certification and licensure and subsequent practice
5. To assist students in developing critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, and to develop scientific knowledge and inquiry skills.
6. To assist students in developing the ethical decision- making skills necessary for helping professionals.
7.   To prepare students to be responsible citizens and lifelong learners.
