Oregon Tech president, Dr. Nagi Naganathan, received a positive diagnosis for Coronavirus (COVID-19) Dec. 1 and is recuperating. 

Following current Oregon guidance, Dr. Naganathan has had limited contact with individuals and has not been on campus since November 23. Consistent with our current practices, Oregon Tech will work with County public health officials to assist the county in its standard case investigation processes.  

First-time undergraduate student enrollment at the Oregon Institute of Technology (Oregon Tech) for fall 2020 again registered a strong increase, signaling demand for professionally-focused degree programs with high returns for graduates.

Oregon Institute of Technology, “Oregon Tech,” scaled nearly 100 spots to the top as one of the top colleges in the nation in PayScale’s most recent rankings release based on graduates’ return on tuition and borrowing investments. An Oregon Tech degree is noted as having the highest return on investment (ROI) of any colleges or universities in Oregon.

 

The Oregon Senate confirmed two new trustees for the governing board of Oregon Tech: Tim Hasty, a current student at Oregon Tech’s Klamath Falls campus; and Michele Vitali, Oregon Tech’s administrative lead at the Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center Research & Development (OMIC) in Scappoose.

Two Oregon Tech students spent the summer painting a mural within Oregon Tech’s Purvine Hall, to highlight the journey that energy takes to get to us, and all the steps taken by our engineers to get it there.

Cynthia Roe, a Civil Engineering student at Oregon Tech, has been selected as recipient of the 2020-21 Oregon undergraduate Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Scholarship, a scholarship valued at $2,500 to promote the advancement of the transportation profession by providing financial assistance to students pursuing degrees in transportation engineering or other related fields.

Klamath Falls, Ore. – Oregon Institute of Technology (Oregon Tech) faculty and staff members were welcomed back to campus Wednesday with virtual convocation events. Convocation marks the traditional beginning of the academic year and this year, it covered the many new procedures in place to work toward a safe and healthy academic year.

U.S. News and World Report’s Best Colleges rankings list Oregon Tech as one of the top universities in the West and a top engineering program in the nation. The report lists Oregon Tech at No. 2 Top Public College in the West and No. 5 Best Western Regional Colleges- the top in Oregon on both lists. Oregon Tech is also featured as a Best Value School for being one of the western regional colleges with the least student debt.
