The Oregon Tech Foundation has received $142,000 in grant support from the Roundhouse Foundation to advance student learning and expand access to healthcare services through Oregon Tech's Dental Hygiene and Medical Imaging programs. The funding includes a $52,000 grant for dental clinic equipment and a $90,000 matching grant toward the purchase of a new 3D mammography unit.
The funding for Oregon Tech's Dental Hygiene program supports the university's dental clinics, which combine clinical experience with dental public health outreach projects serving communities in Oregon and beyond. Grant funds support the purchase of prophylaxis handpieces for clinic chairs in Klamath Falls and Salem, as well as three intraoral cameras that enhance student learning, diagnostics, communication, and patient care.
The Roundhouse Foundation's matching grant helps fund the purchase of a 3D tomosynthesis mammography unit, the first of its kind at Oregon Tech. The equipment will provide students in the Medical Imaging program with hands-on experience in mammography positioning, quality control, and FDA reporting requirements while supporting breast cancer awareness outreach efforts.
The Roundhouse Foundation supports projects that strengthen rural communities by investing in education, social services, and other initiatives that improve quality of life throughout Oregon.
“It is our hope that with the new access to dental and mammography equipment, students will be better prepared to provide health services to Oregonians across the state, especially those in rural and remote areas,” said Erin Borla, Roundhouse Foundation Executive Director
“The Roundhouse Foundation's investment will strengthen two programs that directly support rural and frontier healthcare and well-being of communities across Oregon,” said Dr. Ken Fincher, Vice President of University Advancement. “By providing advanced clinical equipment and supporting cutting-edge imaging technology, these grants enhance hands-on learning opportunities while helping prepare graduates to meet critical healthcare workforce needs.”
The Roundhouse Foundation has been a longtime supporter of Oregon Tech, contributing nearly $800,000 in grant funding to university initiatives, including recent grants for a Dental Hygiene Mobile Unit and the Construction Management program.
