Extracurricular Activities

I am heavily involved in FFA, I show market Steers, I have breeding ewes, I play tennis, I’m in National Honors Society, I also run barrow bed for a local farmer, and I play tennis.

A Little Bit About Me

I am a huge supporter of the agriculture industry, however, I don’t see myself pursuing a career within that field. I have a huge love for cattle and livestock, however the medical field has always interested me more. Coming from a family that has a lot of experience within the medical field, I have always thought of pursuing that path. I was thinking of becoming a Cardiac Sonographer like my mom, as I thought what she did was cool, but I didn’t want to let myself down, I know I have the capability to do more and achieve more. I was thinking of becoming a doctor but I was extremely fearful of the college debt and length and the possibility of lawsuits. I then discovered what a PA was and chose that was the best decision for me. This placement would pique my interest with new situations everyday as well as diversity within that field.

Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major

I have always had the big dream of moving away from Oregon for college. That is of course until I got more mature and realized that it isn’t always the best decision to throw myself into debt over my education. My mom went to Oregon Tech and showed me that Oregon Tech may be the best option for me. I can stay home and focus on working as well as go receive my education. This allows me to stay local and keep my job.

My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech

FFA is one of the greatest things that has ever happened to me. I was able to learn to be cooperative, hard working, organized, responsible, able to be adaptive and above all learn to be teachable. Teachability is an essential quality to possess in all aspects of life. If you are unable to adapt and learn new ways of thinking your life will forever be miserable and full of conflict. FFA being a student-led organization has helped me learn this essential life skill.

My Plans After Graduation

After I graduate with my degree, I plan on applying to PA school where I can become a Physician Assistant. The college that is most realistic for me is the University of Utah for its PA program.
