Extracurricular Activities

I have not yet been able to sign up for any extracurricular activities. I work full time with Klamath County which restrains my free time, however once my schedule is set for the Fall 2025 term I hope to sign up for the Psychology Club and am hoping to be accepted into Psi Chi Honor Society. I would also like to join a social club, where I can connect with other students who have similar interests or life circumstances as myself. I’d also like to participate in the development of events that foster a positive and helpful learning and campus environment.

A Little Bit About Me

I’m a single mom, and though I don’t see that as my identity, it is definitely a big part of who I am. My daughter is very impactful in my life. She’s one of my favorite people and I love doing things with her. A lot of my time and energy goes to that. I take any job I’m in very seriously. I work hard and do my best to grow in any environment, especially in the workplace. I also am a very extroverted individual. I love connecting with people and working to build my village. I’m someone who loves to ask questions about why we are the way we are, which is part of the reason pursuing psychology is a perfect path for me. There’s nothing that intrigues me more than learning about others and how they think and perceive the world.

Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major

I picked this major so I can eventually pursue a PhD in Neuropsychology and work with universities to research and develop this field even more. I chose OIT because, not only was the location perfect with living in Klamath Falls, but I have been told about many positive success stories from people who have gone through the program in the past. I hope to add to those stories moving forward.

My Influential Professors

As a new student, I very much look forward to working with and learning from Dr. Petersen. I know Dr. Petersen from outside of OIT but have also heard amazing things about his classes. Everyone I’ve talked to has said his lessons were some of their favorites. I was ecstatic to see he would be my advisor this coming year and can’t wait to see what more I can learn from him in this environment.

My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech

As a new student at Oregon Tech, I believe I bring a motivation and dedication to my studies that may not be as common anymore. I was raised to work hard and excel at everything I do. Through life I have learned that there will be times I fail, but how I handle those failures is what matters. I bring a drive so that, even if I don’t succeed right away, I know I will continue to push and fight to excel. I don’t quit easily. Once a goal is set, it is something I will work to achieve no matter what.

My Plans After Graduation

After I receive my bachelor's from Oregon Institute of Technology, I plan to continue my education by pursuing a doctoral degree at an accredited institution for Neuropsychology. I hope to begin working in the field while pursuing my PhD, immediately utilizing my Bachelor's of Science in Applied Psychology degree as well.
