Klamath Falls Academic Advising

Your professional advisor from the Office of Advising is a great resource to you as a student. They specialize in Oregon Tech policies and resources along with tips and tricks to help you be successful in college. You will be meeting with them on a regular basis during your first year at Oregon Tech.  


Reasons why you would reach out to your professional advisor:  

  • Understand Oregon Tech policies
  • Learning how to use registration tools like the schedule planner and DegreeWorks
  • Get connected to resources on campus like Health Services and Tutoring
  • If you are on Academic Warning or Probation or struggling with your academics
  • If you are having trouble reaching your faculty advisor

  • Identify your skills, interests, and career goals, and select your academic program
  • Understand your academic requirements, monitor your own progress, and take primary and increasing responsibility for your education
  • Schedule and attend advising appointments prior to your priority registration date
  • Attending appointments in a timely manner and providing notice if you will not be able to attend or need to reschedule
  • Come prepared for advising appointments
  • Check your Oregon Tech email on a regular basis to ensure you are receiving all communications from the college, faculty advisor, and secondary advisor
  • Be an active learner by participating fully in the advising relationship and following through with any recommendations in a timely manner

 

  • Empower you to discover your individual strengths, talents, and goals
  • Guide you to connect your interests and skills to your career objective and academic plan
  • Create an environment of mutual respect, trust, and accountability by actively listening to your concerns and respecting your values and choices

First Year Advising

Our first-year advisors work with incoming freshmen and students under 44 credits. The first-year advisors are geared to help new students adjust and navigate college.

Students meet with their first-year advisor three times in the first term and then two times for Winter and Spring term.

Continuing & Transfer Advising

Our office has additional academic advisors to help students navigate through their sophomore years all the way to graduation. These advisors work closely with the different colleges and the respective deans to help their students and Oregon Tech. They will reach out to you at different times in the term to help you with any questions and send reminders.
