How to completely withdraw from Oregon Tech

To withdraw from the term, you must complete the Withdrawal Survey. 

  • Step 1: Review the deadline to withdraw from the term on the Academic Calendar.
  • Step 2: Go to the Withdrawal Survey. 
  • Step 2: Answer the questions in the survey as this is part of the withdrawal process. Your responses can help us understand how to best support you should you decide to return to Oregon Tech for a future term.
  • Step 3: Click Submit to complete your request to withdraw from the term. If you are receiving financial aid, please contact the Financial Aid Office to report your withdrawal.

If a student is unable to follow the process above, they may contact the Registrar's Office for assistance. 

Withdraw Considerations

  • Withdrawing from courses may affect your current and future financial aid eligibility. 
  • If you withdraw before completing a sufficient portion of the term, federal, state, institutional, and/or other financial aid funds may need to be returned based on applicable regulations. 
  • If you have general financial aid questions, please contact the Oregon Tech Financial Aid Office at dollars@oit.edu
  • If you have questions specifically about Return of Title IV Funds, please contact the Cashier's Office at cashier@oit.edu 
  • A withdrawal may also impact your eligibility for financial aid in future terms. 
  • Tuition and fee refunds are determined according to Oregon Tech's published refund schedule and the date your withdrawal becomes effective. 
  • Depending on when you withdraw, you may remain responsible for some or all tuition and fees charged for the term. 
  • Any adjustment to your account may affect outstanding balances or create a repayment obligation.

  • Withdrawn courses may appear on your academic transcript with a withdrawal notation (W), depending on the timing and circumstances of the withdrawal. 
  • While a W does not affect your GPA, it may impact your progress toward degree completion and could affect prerequisite sequencing or graduation timelines. 
  • If you reside in university housing or participate in a meal plan, withdrawing may affect your housing eligibility and meal plan status. 
  • Additional charges, contract cancellation fees, or prorated refunds may apply depending on the terms of your housing agreement and the date of withdrawal.

  • International students should consult with the Office of International Programs before withdrawing. 
  • Withdrawal may affect F-1 or J-1 visa status and SEVIS records. Failure to maintain required enrollment could result in loss of legal immigration status in the United States. 
  • Students who withdraw may be eligible to return in a future term; however, additional steps may be required depending on the length of absence and academic standing.
