Hands-On Learning is our Passion
Oregon Tech's degree programs are focused on applied technologies, engineering, health professions, applied sciences, communication and business. Our faculty teach the theory and the application of that theory through hands-on learning in small classes and labs, and with the latest technology and real-world experiences. Students are in laboratories, clinics, and out in the field throughout their time at Oregon Tech. They learn from faculty members whose expertise is grounded in working in their field and maintaining those professional connections that benefit students both in-school and after they graduate.
Oregon Tech is best known for its traditional engineering and technological core, but new degree options (and surprising twists on old ones) are remarkably multi-dimensional. A Geomatics student might use GIS technology to survey an archeological excavation, or a Mechanical Engineering student may complete a cross-disciplinary application in sustainability. A Communication Studies major might compile a technical manual for an Oregon Renewable Energy Center project. Information Technology and Health Informatics or Business students might specialize in allied health management.
This real-world focus gives our students a competitive edge: 96 percent are employed or in graduate school within six months of graduation. Year after year, our baccalaureate graduates earn excellent starting salaries, generally at the highest levels among their peers in the same fields.
